Cub Scouts is perfect for kids ages 5-10 who are just starting to explore the world around them. Kids make friends and learn new skills through age-appropriate hands-on activities and shared adventures with their families.
In Cub Scouts, families join small groups called “packs,” where trained volunteers and parents work side by side to create a welcoming, supportive environment.

What do Cub Scouts do?
Cub Scouts participate in fun, hands-on activities year-round, including:

How often do Cub Scouts meet?
Most Cub Scout packs meet a few times each month:
- Den activities are small group meetings with kids of the same grade
- Pack activities are larger gatherings for all families with elementary-grade youth in the pack
- Additionally, there are additional occasional outings, field trips, or camp experiences
Schedules vary by pack, but families can expect a manageable, flexible level of participation. Most families find it easy to fit into their schedules.
Do parents need to be involved?
Cub Scouting is designed to include the whole family. Parents and caregivers are invited to participate:
- Attend meetings and activities
- Support their child’s learning and advancement
- Volunteer in Scout leadership

Is Cub Scouts open to boys and girls?
Yes! Cub Scouting is open to all youth in grades K-5. Packs welcome all youth and organize them into age-based groups, creating a program that works well for the whole family.
Do Cub Scouts have to camp?
Camping is encouraged but not required. Many packs offer:
- Short overnight campouts
- Day camps or weekend activities
- Family-friendly outdoor experiences
Families can choose the level of participation that works best for them.
